What offends me is that of all the people that are passionate and committed to the honest, truth-based resurrection of absinthe as a particular beverage with a particular flavor profile and who know the history and the lies that have corrupted that history and kept the beverage out of consumers' hands, hardly one believes that Pavel Varga gives a flying fuck about any of that. L'Or has been about as destructive towards the truth concerning absinthe as any single company to date. He sells what he sells at absintherie for bragging rights and profit. He bought the mother-lode of Meadsinthe for profit and self-aggrandizement. Pisses me off that someone who has been so destructive towards the public's perception of what absinthe is should be defended by someone who's been actively seeking to correct that perception with honest marketing and quality products.

Business is not business. Some practices need to be condemned while others are condoned. Consumers need to look out for themselves and keep informed, but then they need to vote with their pocketbooks for the producers that keep consumers' interests a priority. Profit mongers look out for themselves first and look at consumers only for their money.

Look on it from Martins' view. Martin and Pavel know each other longer than we do. I don't much about their relationship, but I guess we can consider them as friends. Now if your friend orders from you 100 bottles of a rare batch, what would you say? You can't order that much, because it's a rare thing and Absintheries target are dumb tourists? Besides this rude fact, Pavel Varga is trying to sell the true absinthe the way it should be sold. Yes, it's L'OR, they made shit and its thujon hype brought them fortune, but after all they accepted absinthe and its truth.

I still don't like this sellout of mead base, but I understand it and I'll get over it... especially if I'll get mine!

Used to be a common practice when Matter was coming out with prototypes every so many months that there was a limit on the number of bottles you could order. Same thing when L'Artisanale was released. It was a method to make sure the maximum number of absinthe-savvy people had the opportunity to enjoy a product of limited scale without having to resort to buying it from a second party who was only buying it to make a slice of profit for themselves. Profits from the sale of false absinthe to finance and "to sell the true absinthe the way it should be sold"? Fuck that. Sorry. I'm not going to defend what I think are business practices that put the consumer, the average guy, in the position of having to accept rent-seeking practices. Business practices that make them pay more for the same product without any value having been added to it.

First of all, I appreciate the fact that man can buy the real absinthe in center of Prague nowdays. It's a giant leap what have been done in last two years. From this point of view Pavel Varga provides wide sortiment of real absinthe-for reasonable price in comparison to the other "absinth shops" in Prague. On the other hand, he abuses real absinthe to present his stuff as kind of the authentic absinthe as well...
Every product costs more in the clasical stores than in the e-shops. I doubt Martin could sell his absinthe sortiment from lepsinalada.cz for the same prices in the center of Prague.
